Are you open all year round?

We are open all year round for groups, by arrangement. From Easter to the end of October Half term for other direct bookings.

What is the policy for under unaccompanied under 18s?
If you are 16+ you can stay unaccompanied, but we require a signed consent from by a parent or guardian. Please e-mail us to request a form.

Under eighteens cannot book the Hostel exclusively and group sizes are limited 8.

Do you allow single sex groups, stag/hen parties?
We only allow stag and Hen parties to hire the Hostel exclusively and these bookings MUST be made directly with the Hostel owner over the telephone.
Single sex groups are permitted up to a maximum of 8 people and we operate a very strict zero tolerance to excessive noise and antisocial behaviour. We will ask people to leave irrespective of the time of day or night if this policy is ignored and we are not obliged to make refunds.

How many can you accommodate?
We have 38 beds some of which are doubles so we can accommodate 44 if these are shared. We have a further 5 trundle beds for occasional use or children making maximum capacity 49.

Do you have a car park?
We DO NOT offer parking. However, there is a public car park situated behind Ocean Backpackers, called Ropery Road. The 2022 price is £8 per day. There are many other public car parks very close that charge the same. However, there is a long stay car park called Marine Drive about 15 minutes’ walk away where parking is £4.60 per day.

What time can I check-in?
Check-in time is after 4pm and up to 7pm. You can check-in after 7pm if you have paid in full and contacted up so that we can give you access codes. If you arrive after 7pm and have not paid or contacted us, you risk not having access.

Do you allow dogs?
We may accept well behaved (small) dogs if you have booked a private room for a short stay. You must notify us when booking and we will decide based on the dog and the time of year. We reserve the right to refuse your stay or ask you to leave if your dog is not as described or a nuisance to guests.

Do you provide bed linen?
All bedding is provided, and you can hire a towel for £2 if you prefer not to pack your own.

Is your Kitchen fully equipped?
We have large catering style kitchen with a 7-burner range oven, two catering refrigerators, two sinks, a microwave and stainless-steel work tops.

Can you store bikes, Surfboards and Kayaks?
We have large secure basement and drying room for wetsuits.

Can I dry wet outdoor coats and walking boots?
We have coat and boot room with a heated boot rack and a separate heated airer, ideal for walkers.

Can you hire the whole Hostel exclusively?
Yes, you can. We are the idea base for activity breaks for multiple families, groups of friends, sports groups etc. Prices can vary depending on the time of year so please contact us directly on info@oceanbackpackers with your requirements.

Do I have to share a room with others?
We have many private rooms as well as our mixed dorms, so you need not share if you prefer privacy.
