Ilfracombe is situated within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On the edge of Exmoor National Park, it’s a walkers paradise with many spectacular walking trails offering unspoilt natural beauty, peace and tranquillity.
The Southwest Coast Path National Trail is 630 miles of superb coastline stretching from Minehead to Poole runs through Ilfracombe close to the Hostel. The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery are truly inspirational and it’s one of the top walks to be found anywhere in the world.
If, however you are interested shorter distances there are many spectacular walks that take in sections of the path which will fill your day or just part of your day if you prefer.
We recommend the national trust trails for Ilfracombe to Lee or Wooleaocombe and Croyde or Combe Martin.
Lynmouth or Linton to Valley or the Rocks and Heddon Valley.
You can always take a bus back if necessary.
On a clear day you can see Wales and Lundy Island and if you’re lucky some interesting wildlife.
