Dutch School welcomed to Ocean Backpackers

We were very pleased to welcome a school from Holland to Ocean Backpackers last week. After previous trips organised to Westward Ho-the Dutch school party decided to visit Ilfracombe this year and experience some of its curious coastal charm!

The weather was glorious and the group had a fun-filled week with activities laid on by a local Outdoor Adventure company H2Outdoor. (Details on our website.) They enjoyed Surf lessons at the award winning Woolacombe beach. Then later in the week they took sea kayaking lessons from Ilfracombe Harbour and had great fun coasteering from neighbouring Hele beach.

The group hired the majority of the Backpackers apart from our thrid floor and so they had sole use of the communal lounge and self-catering kitchen. Each night, a different team of students would cook up a storm for the whole group and there was plenty of space for them to dine and then chillax after!!

They enjoyed a sunset beach BBQ one night and the students enjoyed wandering around Ilfracombe with all it’s quaint shops, galleries and cafes . They all agreed that the location of the Backpackers could not be more perfect as everything was in walking distance-even some of the activities.

The school have already booked to come back again next year as the Backpackers was perfect for their needs. Just hope they get the same great weather next year!!
